PUNE: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ranchi, has emerged victorious in Cummins India’s prestigious annual B-school case study competition, REDEFINE 2025. The competition, which concluded recently, saw IIM Ranchi’s Team Crow clinching the top spot among a highly competitive field.

REDEFINE 2025 is Cummins India’s flagship case study competition designed to challenge students from top business schools across the country. This year marked the eighth edition of the event, which encouraged participants to explore innovative and sustainable models addressing critical challenges in the energy sector.

Theme and Participation

The theme for this year’s competition was “From Backup to Backbone: Driving the Energy Shift.” This theme prompted participants to think creatively about solutions that could transform the energy landscape. A remarkable 6,453 students participated, forming 2,151 teams from 19 premier B-schools across India.

Finalists and Event Highlights

After several competitive rounds, six finalist teams advanced to the grand finale held at the Cummins India Office Campus in Pune. The finalists included:

  • Dynamic Dreamers from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong
  • Crow from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ranchi
  • Visioners from the Indian School of Business, Mohali
  • Team 7 from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Tiruchirappalli
  • Ninja Turtles from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow

The two-day finale was not only a platform for showcasing innovative ideas but also featured engaging leadership sessions, networking opportunities, and guided tours of Cummins Technical Center India (CTCI) and Kothrud Engine Plant (KEP).

Evaluation and Awards

The competition culminated in a jury evaluation and a live voting session by Cummins employees. Team Crow from IIM Ranchi was awarded the coveted winner’s trophy along with a cash prize. Additionally, Team Visioners from the Indian School of Business, Mohali, secured the runner-up position.

Social Media Contest

In a fun twist, all finalist teams participated in a social media contest where they created short, engaging team introduction videos uploaded on LinkedIn. Team Crow achieved the highest engagement for their video and was declared the winner of this contest as well.
