On February 8, 2026, the young artists of Natrang were honoured by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu for their outstanding performance in the play Aap Hamaare Hain Kaun, which was written and directed by the esteemed Padma Shri Balwant Thakur. This recognition marked a significant moment for both institutions, celebrating theatre as a powerful medium of artistic expression, social engagement, and education.

The Award Ceremony

The award ceremony took place at Rangmandapam, IIM Jammu, where the vibrant ensemble of Natrang delivered a highly charged and emotionally resonant performance. The production captivated the audience from beginning to end, drawing repeated applause throughout the play and culminating in a well-deserved standing ovation. Performance Series

The performance at IIM Jammu was part of a special series of shows being presented at various venues as the team prepares to participate in the world’s largest international theatre festival. Currently, a six-show series is underway with the support of:

  • J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages
  • North Zone Cultural Centre
  • Jal Jeevan Mission, Jammu & Kashmir

This series will conclude on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 5:00 pm at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu. Audiences who missed the previous performances will have the opportunity to witness this mesmerizing production on that day. These performances aim to further refine the production while sharing its powerful social and artistic message with diverse audiences.

Contribution of Padma Shri Balwant Thakur

A key highlight of the occasion was the acknowledgment of the immense contribution of Padma Shri Balwant Thakur. His pioneering efforts have played a crucial role in introducing and nurturing theatre at IIM Jammu. Through his sustained engagement with the institute, he has successfully integrated theatre into the academic and cultural ecosystem of IIM, exposing future managers and leaders to creative thinking, empathy, and social awareness through the performing arts.

Visionary Leadership

Special appreciation was also extended to Prof. B. S. Sahay, whose visionary leadership and steadfast encouragement have been instrumental in promoting theatre and cultural activities among IIM Jammu students.
