The 4th Japan–India Universities Forum saw participation from the heads of 37 Japanese universities and 36 Indian universities. The event was honored by the presence of several dignitaries:

Mr. HARA Shohei, representing JICA, reaffirmed the long-standing partnership between Japan and IIT Hyderabad. He noted JICA’s continued support through:

  • ₹1,400 crore ODA loan
  • The decade-long FRIENDSHIP Project
  • More than 160 student scholarships
  • 100 joint R&D projects

He emphasized that IITH is steadily emerging as a key bridge connecting Japan’s innovation ecosystem with India’s technological growth.

Interactive Sessions and Cultural Exchange

Following the formal sessions, the event featured interactive booth sessions, where participating universities showcased their programs, research areas, and exchange opportunities to IITH students and faculty. A networking lunch and campus tour allowed Japanese delegates to experience IITH’s vibrant research and innovation ecosystem.

The day concluded with a cultural evening featuring an Astro Rakugo show, a unique blend of traditional Japanese storytelling and science, symbolizing the shared cultural and intellectual ties between the two nations.
