IIT Jammu Hosts International Conference on Sustainable Materials and Infrastructure
From December 16 to 18, 2025, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu successfully hosted the International Conference on Sustainable Materials and Infrastructure (ICSMI-2025). This three-day international event was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Jammu in collaboration with the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) Centre J&K.
Purpose and Themes of the Conference
The conference aimed to bring together leading academicians, researchers, industry experts, and practitioners from India and abroad. Acknowledging Excellence
Outstanding research contributions were recognized during the conference through the Best Poster Award. This initiative encouraged innovation and academic excellence among participants. Technical Visit to Chenab Bridge
On December 18, participants had the opportunity to visit the Chenab Bridge, recognized as the world’s highest railway bridge. The visit was conducted under the guidance of Rashmiranjan Mallick, Deputy Chief Engineer of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited. This experience offered participants first-hand exposure to advanced engineering practices, structural design excellence, and sustainable construction methodologies.
