Ludhiana: Exciting developments are underway for the city’s industry leaders as the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar has announced a new initiative aimed at enhancing the artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities of local business executives. This initiative, titled ‘AI for Leaders,’ is designed to equip top-level executives with the necessary skills to integrate AI into their business operations effectively.

Program Overview

The ‘AI for Leaders’ program is set to benefit over 60 industries, primarily those based in Ludhiana. The announcement was made during a high-powered session hosted by the Munjal Birmingham City University Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (MBCIE) at Hotel Park Plaza. The event attracted more than 100 business leaders and technocrats, marking the formal positioning of MBCIE as a satellite center of IIT Ropar’s Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence.

Course Structure

Dr. Pushpendra P Singh, dean (corporate, alumni, placement & strategies) and project director of iHub-AWaDH at IIT Ropar, provided insights into the program’s structure. The course will be delivered in a flexible hybrid format, comprising a minimum of 36 hours of online learning complemented by a one-day in-person hands-on training session. Participants will have the option to select a convenient location for their practical training.

Curriculum Highlights

The curriculum is designed to address the specific needs of various business verticals, including:

  • Marketing
  • Branding
  • Public Relations (PR)
  • Human Resources (HR)
  • Project Management
  • Screening Processes
  • Task Automation

This comprehensive approach ensures that participants not only learn about AI but also understand how to apply it in their respective fields to drive innovation and efficiency.

Importance of AI in Business

During the event, SK Rai, Managing Director of Hero Cycles, emphasized the critical role of visionary leadership in adopting new technologies. He stated, “It’s not just about technology; it’s about mindset. If leaders don’t embrace AI, organizations will fall behind. This initiative gives us the clarity and support we need to take that step forward.”

Strategic Imperative

Sudarshan Iyengar, an associate professor at IIT Ropar, echoed this sentiment by describing AI adoption as “a strategic imperative.” He highlighted that businesses must adapt to the rapidly changing technological landscape to remain competitive and relevant in their industries.

Conclusion

The launch of the ‘AI for Leaders’ program by IIT Ropar represents a significant step towards preparing Ludhiana’s business leaders for the future. By enhancing their understanding and application of AI, these executives will be better equipped to lead their organizations through the challenges and opportunities presented by technological advancements. This initiative not only fosters individual growth but also contributes to the overall economic development of the region.
