UpStart 2025 Bengaluru Sees Startup Pitching and Investor Participation

On November 22, 2025, Bengaluru hosted the UpStart 2025, a flagship startup pitching competition organized by the Entrepreneurship Cell of IIT Kanpur. This event marked a significant milestone in the journey towards the national finals scheduled for January 2026 at the IIT Kanpur campus.

Event Overview

The UpStart 2025 event took place at the prestigious Davanam Sarovar Hotel, attracting over 20 notable dignitaries, including industry leaders and international venture capitalists from South Korea and Singapore. The competition featured more than 24 startups from various sectors, including:

  • Technology
  • Healthcare
  • Defence
  • Ed-tech
  • Fashion
  • Sustainability
  • Food and Beverage (F&B)

These startups showcased some of the most exciting early-stage innovations, demonstrating the vibrant entrepreneurial spirit present in Bengaluru.

Pitching Format

The pitching competition adopted a format reminiscent of the popular television show “Shark Tank.” Each participating entrepreneur was given a total of 12 minutes—7 minutes for pitching their business idea followed by a 5-minute discussion with investors and representatives from venture capital firms. This format allowed for an engaging and dynamic interaction between entrepreneurs and potential investors.

Live Telecast and Future Opportunities

The event was broadcast live in collaboration with StartupTV and iQue Ventures, expanding its reach to a broader audience and enhancing visibility for the participating startups. Following this event, selected startups will undergo multiple levels of screening and face-to-face mentoring sessions to prepare for the finals at IIT Kanpur on January 25, 2026, as part of E-Summit’25.
