Hyundai and IIT Madras Launch Initiative for Children’s Cancer Care

Hyundai Motor India Foundation has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras to launch a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing pediatric cancer care in India. The initiative, named ‘Hyundai Hope for Cancer,’ has been allocated a budget of Rs 56 crore and is designed to improve awareness and access to screening for childhood cancer.
Objectives of the Initiative
The primary goal of the ‘Hyundai Hope for Cancer’ initiative is to enhance early detection and treatment of pediatric cancer. Over the next four years, the initiative plans to conduct more than 225 cancer awareness and screening camps across several states, including:
- Tamil Nadu
- Maharashtra
- Haryana
This extensive outreach aims to educate communities about the signs and symptoms of childhood cancer, thereby facilitating early diagnosis and treatment.
Commitment to Community Health
Puneet Anand, Associate Vice-President and Head of Corporate Affairs, Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility at Hyundai Motor India Ltd, expressed the company’s commitment to this cause. He stated, “Hyundai Hope for Cancer reflects our firm belief that technology, compassion, and collaboration can drive transformative change in cancer care.” This statement underscores the initiative’s holistic approach to tackling pediatric cancer.
In addition to the awareness campaigns, the initiative includes a dedicated cancer care fund of Rs 3 crore. This fund is intended to support research and provide resources for early detection, as well as to enhance community outreach efforts. So far, these efforts have positively impacted over 11,000 individuals, showcasing the initiative’s potential reach and effectiveness.
