IIM C Director says institute remains committed to shaping professionals

Kolkata, April 4, 2026 – The Director of the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM C), Alok Kumar Rai, emphasized the institute’s dedication to developing professionals who lead with integrity and purpose in an increasingly complex world. This statement was made during the institute’s 61st Annual Convocation ceremony.

The convocation ceremony was graced by notable guests, including Praveer Sinha, the CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power, who served as the chief guest. M Jagadesh Kumar, the Chairperson of the Board of Governors, also attended the event. Kumar highlighted the institute’s significant contributions to national development over the decades, stating, “I am sure the graduating students will continue that tradition and, together with their talent, will excel in their leadership positions with judgment, character, and courage.”

Graduation Statistics

This year, a total of 459 students from the flagship two-year MBA program and 90 students from the one-year MBAEx program received their degrees. Additionally, 40 participants of the PGPEX-VLM program were awarded diplomas, and the institute conferred PhD degrees to 12 scholars.

Both Rai and Kumar underscored the importance of the choices that graduates will make in their personal lives, workplaces, and communities.
