IIT Guwahati Releases GATE 2026 Paper Schedule
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati has officially released the paper schedule for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026. This announcement was made on November 17, 2025, and the detailed paper schedule can be accessed on the official GATE 2026 website at gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
Exam Schedule
According to the schedule, GATE 2026 is set to take place in February. The examination will be conducted in two shifts each day:
- Morning Session: 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
- Afternoon Session: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
The results of GATE 2026 will be announced on March 19, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for GATE 2026, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Currently studying in the 3rd year or higher of any undergraduate degree program.
- Completed any government-approved degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts, or Humanities.
- Holders of certifications from professional societies must ensure that their examinations are recognized as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech./B.Arch./B.Planning, etc.
- Candidates who have obtained or are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India must also be in the 3rd year or higher, or have completed a Bachelor’s degree of at least three years’ duration in the relevant fields.
- Those pursuing or holding a higher degree than mentioned above are also eligible.
- Candidates with B.Sc./B.A./B.Com. degrees (3-year program) can apply for admission to Master’s programs in IITs and IISc.
Documents Required for Application
While filling out the application form, candidates will need to provide the following documents:
- Candidate’s photograph (as per specifications)
- Candidate’s signature (as per specifications)
- Valid photo ID (original must be presented at the exam)
- Category certificate (SC/ST), if applicable, in PDF format
- UDID/PwD certificate, if applicable, in PDF format
- Dyslexic certificate, if applicable, in PDF format
- Relevant Annexure(s), if applicable, in PDF format

GATE is conducted for various purposes, including:
- Admission to postgraduate programs in prestigious Indian institutes
- Eligibility for PSU jobs
- Obtaining scholarships/fellowships
- Enrollment in foreign universities
